Just around 40% of our students actively participate in research opportunities on our campus with an undergraduate research office to help facilitate this process.
Located on campus, Research Park has more than 120 companies, employing over 2,100 people in high technology careers. At any given time more than 800 student interns are making real contributions to internal corporate R&D and product development programs.
Some well known companies and inventions have come from UIUC such as the first Graphical Web Browser, MRI and the Plasma Display. Also, alumni started companies such as Youtube, Yelp and non-profit Girls who Code.
