NAU is located in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona, a mountain town (7,000 ft elevation) of 71,000 residents surrounded by the largest ponderosa pine forest in the world, two hours north of the Phoenix area, an hour and a half south of the Grand Canyon, and 40 minutes northeast of Sedona! Flagstaff experiences all four seasons and has never reached 100 degrees. NAU is a public, research institution. 90% of our freshmen choose to live on campus their first year. 50% of our total student population lives on campus. Offering over 100 majors ranging from Education to Business, Fine Arts to Engineering, Social Sciences to Health Sciences, our more well-known majors include Forestry, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Biology, Engineering, Psychology, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Nursing and Exercise Physiology. NAU is Division 1 with 15 athletic teams. We offer 400+ clubs and organizations, club and intramural sports, Greek life, and study abroad.
