Boston, MA | emerson.edu

Emerson College is America’s only comprehensive college or university dedicated exclusively to the study and advancement of communication and arts in a liberal arts context. It offers distinctive undergraduate and graduate programs that educate leaders and entrepreneurs in these fields. Since its beginning in 1880, Emerson has been a place for unique students whose thought and experience overlap: thinking is linked to doing. The campus is at the gateway of Boston’s Theatre District and close to cultural centers, media outlets, and public transportation. It is home to approximately 4,000 full-time undergraduates in majors ranging from Communication Sciences and Disorders to Performing Arts to Film to Comedy to Creative Writing. Emerson also offers study and internship programs in Los Angeles and Washington D.C; study abroad in the Netherlands, Taiwan, London, Beijing, Spain, and the Czech Republic; and course cross-registration with the Boston Pro Arts Consortium.

Points of Pride

  1. We own a castle! Kasteel Well, a restored 14th-century moated medieval castle in the Netherlands, serves as our European campus and is home to 90 Emerson students for three months each fall and spring term, as well as for summer programs.

  2. Our Comedic Arts BFA is the first degree of its kind in the country. It integrates comedic writing, performance, literature, media, and production—and ranges across the comedic formats, from sketch comedy to improv to standup to Shakespeare.

  3. . Emerson has two radio stations, including WERS-FM, the oldest noncommercial station in Boston. WERS (88.9 FM) is Emerson College’s award-winning radio station.
